Bring on September. AKA Fashion Month

First off, a huge apology to the readers out there for the lack of articles over the last week. That one is on me. I find it somewhat ironic how work picks up right before everyone goes back to school, how as summer is ending my work is finally possible winding down. The fashion industry however, like school, starts to fly. All the behind the scenes work (what I do outside of Fair JAKE) is able to take a breath, and the magazines and shops and tradeshows hit full speed.

Vancouver label DACE - fall coat
So while I am taking a breath, I thought I would let everyone know what they can expect, or see little hints of, as they make their way around the city over the next two months. Right now the Fall 2013 collections are rolling out in stores. For the larger stores that have many seasons, the fall clothing has been trickling in for two months now. But for the smaller labels, its only been a couple weeks. At the same time, out of the public's eye, the Spring 2014 collections are being pitched to buyers while the designers are on the lookout for Fall 2014 fabrics. To top it all off, we throw in glamorous photoshoots and luxurious, extravagant runway shows so the public can see how the industry sparkles. Its a lot to pack into two months, and then all the action heads back behind the scenes.

OBAKKI Summer 2013 -
Can't wait to see what's coming for Fall!

In Vancouver, this crazy schedule brings this city some events that are key for any fashion lover to check out. Our top two are Eco-Fashion Week, which highlights all the sustainably minded labels around the city, province and stretching across the West Coast, this series of shows top our list. Events go from Oct. 6-10 - visit their website for all the schedule information. Also go take a peek at what Vancouver Fashion Week has on their roster. It is smaller on scale but usually pretty stocked with international talent, this is also a good fashion hub to see. This season it goes from September 16th-21st.
As soon as those shows are done, the markets and craft shows start rolling into town in time for the holiday season. Never a dull moment!

While all this is going on, Fair JAKE is holding back just a little, staying out of the spotlight and cooking up something really good! We have a fitting tomorrow, sewing away at samples day and night to bring you the best summer capsule collection we can muster. So stay tuned friends - its going to be fantastic!! Photos to come soon. Until then, have a great weekend - go soak up the remaining summer sunshine.
