It is
Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which I am sure everyone knows already. As we
have mentioned before, we at Fair JAKE are interested not only in fashion, but how it
can participate in larger life issues...and in this case, it is fairly easy.
Many breast cancer foundations use the fashion industry to raise money for
their cause.
Whether
you are flashing your pink ribbon pin, sporting a FashionTargets Breast Cancer t-shirt,
or even just voting
for your favourite White Cashmere Collection dress you are helping to promote awareness
of breast cancer; and you are doing it through fashion.
Canadian
Cancer Society's stats say that it is estimated that 23,800 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. With
stats like this, everyone is sure to know and care for at least one woman that
has had, has or will have this horrible illness. That is why it is so
important to help in anyway we know how; in our case it is through fashion.
Many top named designers use their status to create a "must have"
that not only raises money for the cause but gives the consumer something to
wear; to show the world that they care. The most important thing to know, especially as a woman is to be aware!
Hopefully this article and all other attempts through fashion help to create this awareness and remind women to go get checked out!
