Canada won this years Celebration of Light
So far, parts of Fair JAKE have ventured to Toronto, gone camping at Joffrey Lake and spent a few weekends at the cabin on Okanagan Lake. We've taken in Celebration of Lights (UK edition), enjoyed Playland and Jazz Fest. Between all the music festivals, sports games and cultural events across the province, there has been so much to choose from. And lucky for all us West Coasters, there is an entire month left! What do you have planned? Here's what we've got, and we'll be letting you know how they go.
Camping in the BC North - nowhere else like it.
Summer Food Cart Fest - every Sunday in the large parking lot under the Cambie Street Bridge, the food cart vendors gather in the same place to really make it hard to decide what to have for lunch.
Squamish Music Festival - This weekend, you can grab a day pass, a weekend pass or a full-blown camping pass and head up towards Squamish to watch some unbelievable bands entertain a huge crowd. Vampire Weekend, The Chantrelles and Queen's of the Stone Age are only a few of the outstanding bands on the list this year.
Deighton Cup - I know the Hastings Racecourse made the blog a couple weeks ago, but throwing on a pretty dress and a cute and creative headpiece sounds like a perfect summer outing to me. Touted as the "sophisticated event of the summer" its the perfect opportunity to bring out your finest headwear. Our faves come from our dear friend Nicole over at Oh Dina!
Bard on the Beach - After two years of saying I'm going to make it to our resident Shakespeare Festival, I am determined to go. Don't know which show, but I think I'm leaning towards Twelfth Night.
With four weekends left, and a very lovely September predicted on our horizon, there are tons of events left to take in before the rainy season takes over. Have fun everyone, and let us know what you think of the events you attend!
